Ingredients

  • For the Cake:
  • All-purpose flour / Maida – 1½ cups
  • Golden Crown Baking Powder – 1½ tsp
  • Golden Crown Sugar Syrup – ½ cup (for soaking the cake)
  • Butter – ½ cup (softened)
  • Sugar – ¾ cup (or adjust to taste)
  • Eggs – 2 large
  • Milk – ½ cup
  • Vanilla essence – 1 tsp
  • For the Topping / Decoration:
  • Golden Crown Gulab Jamun – 6–8 pieces (halved or whole)
  • Golden Crown Sugar Syrup – ¼ cup (for soaking Gulab Jamuns)
  • Chopped nuts (almond, pistachio) – 2 tbsp

Instructions

  • 01Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a 7–8 inch cake pan and line with parchment paper.
  • 02In a bowl, whisk together flour and Golden Crown Baking Powder.
  • 03In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • 04Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla essence.
  • 05Gradually fold in the dry ingredients alternately with milk until smooth.
  • 06Pour batter into the prepared pan. Smooth the top.
  • 07Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • 08Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  • 09While the cake is still slightly warm, brush Golden Crown Sugar Syrup evenly over it.
  • 10Let it soak for 10–15 minutes so the cake becomes moist and syrupy.
  • 11Halve or keep whole Golden Crown Gulab Jamuns.
  • 12Warm them slightly in Golden Crown Sugar Syrup so they absorb more sweetness.
  • 13Place Gulab Jamuns on top of the soaked cake.
  • 14Sprinkle chopped nuts over the top for garnish.
  • 15Chill for 30 minutes before serving
